Bed & breakfast |
We extend a warm welcome to you and yours at our Bed & Breakfast, nestling in the heart of Sweden’s beautiful county of Österlen (the southeastern part of the Swedish province of Scania) and renowned for its natural beauty.
The picturesque coastal towns of Simrisham, Ystad, Tomelilla, golf courses, sea bathing, stunning countryside and the cordiality of our traditional Swedish heritage (all within a radius of 20 kilometers) come together to offer you a wide choice of leisure activities. Enjoy!
We take great pleasure in offering you a relaxed and unruffled stay at the Old Stiby vicarage, set in its own grounds and with roots going back to the 1840s. You’ll find us on the outskirts of Gärsnäs. Lovingly renovated, our doors are now open. You’ll be staying in a magnificent period property that boasts sturdy red brick walls, in the midst of mature grounds and set on a gentle slope leading up to the church. The village of Stiby radiates a pastoral calm. From our feathered friends who make their home in the ground’s trees to the pheasants and hares that share our idyll. From the sound of the wind playing in the treetops to the sporadic chimes of the church bells, it’s a scene unchanged by time. The occasional snicker heard from the horses in the pasture adds to this unspoilt and unhurried way of life. Stiby is a small village numbering only a handful of houses. You are in the midst of a verdant Scanian farming landscape within easy reach of all that Österlen has to offer.
A spacious residence awaits you, filled with light and warmth, in what once served as the local vicarage and erected in 1842. The vicar, who lived here when we purchased the house, put it succinctly when he said …“this is a kindly house”. The building comprises some 300 square meters, of which half is for the use of our guests. Guest quarters comprise three rooms with shower and toilet. All the rooms have been renovated from top to bottom (2009) and have white-plastered walls with comfortable beds.
Our breakfast buffet is served in the drawing room between the hours of 8.00 and 9.30. Weather permitting, why not take your breakfast in the rear grounds of the vicarage in the garden or out front which has uninterrupted sunlight all day long.
We take pride in offering our guests a generous breakfast that includes homemade bread, tasty garnishes, juice, coffee or tea, egg and cereals. Don’t hesitate to tell us if you have any specific requests or requirements and we’ll do our very best to make sure they’re met.
You’ll find comfortable armchairs in front of the tiled stove in the drawing room or, if you prefer, why not curl up on the sofa in the library and read a good book or magazine. The glassed-in verandah, found at the rear of the house, enjoys a view over the grounds leading up to the church. Here you can sit in comfort and enjoy your breakfast. Wi-Fi is free.
